Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner - Board Certified
Education: Wilkes University, Southern New Hampshire University,
Keiser University, University of New Hampshire
Degrees: MSN, BSN, ADN, AS
I made the decision to go to nursing school as a single mother of four after relocating to Florida from New England. I specialized in critical care with hepatology patients with advanced liver disease. When one of my children developed cancer at the age of 15, I decided to transition to caring for cancer patients and worked with amazing nurses on an inpatient hematology/oncology unit. To better fit a working mom's schedule, I was transitioned to Assistant Nurse Manager then to Nursing Supervisor for my 422 bed local hospital in Orlando.
While I loved the challenge of working in the hospital, I missed working directly with patients and once again returned to school. I graduated with an MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing Across the Lifespan, passed my Boards and became an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). I was blessed to work with a wonderful group of physicians, nurse practitioners and mental health therapists but my joy came from working closely with my patients. I worked hard to develop therapeutic relationships with each patient who entrusted me with their care. I decided to open my private practice in order to spend the time necessary to work with each patient to best treat their individual needs. It is my mission to develop a mutually respectful therapeutic relationship with each of my patients.
I previously worked with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) to teach classes for parents of children with mental health disorders. Currently I facilitate a weekly support group for survivors of trauma and domestic violence. It is my passion to assist these amazing, strong women as they work hard to rebuild their lives and navigate their new normal.
